It has also catapulted thousands and thousands of people in to financial riches without ever leaving there bedrooms and garages. Some have made the leap from there to the boardrooms and stock markets and reshaped global economies.
The most famous of these is of course Google but others unique ideas such as YouTube, Facebook, Ebay and Amazon have become multi million dollar enterprises and become as commonly known or used in conversation as Ford, Microsoft or British Airways in a matter of a couple of years, almost overnight successes.
The fun doesn’t stop there though; millions of others have also found great success with a unique idea or a clever bit of code. The great over riding appeal of this though, is that people don’t have to be technical geniuses or MIT graduates to do this, they just need a good idea, the belief to follow it and the public conscious to embrace it in the way only the internet can. Ideas and news spreading like wild fire across online communities, forums, blogs and news groups like an unstoppable stampede.
Some of these are much heralded and widely reported, others are less so but no less successful. It is these ideas that we are aim to explore here, to celebrate their genius, wonder at there success and perhaps…just perhaps…inspire us to make our mark on the web and the world.
